Saxony carpet, or shag pile carpet as they’re more commonly known, is a blend of twisted fibres that stand up straight, higher than most Berber carpets, and are weaved in a way to create an insanely soft and comfortable feel underfoot.

Another popular style of Saxony carpet is the textured Saxony which, like the original version, has twisted fibres that stand upright however a textured Saxony has kinks and bends at the tips of the fibres causing light to reflect off them differently. Where you would find hand and footprints or vacuum marks from a change in direction from an original Saxony carpet, you won’t with a textured one! This style has recently become popular because marks are hidden well when the fibres have been bent as the colour change is a lot less noticeable than a traditional Saxony carpet with straight fibres. Because of this, a textured Saxony is perfect for a busy household.
